Entebbe is a quaint rural town on the northern shores of the stunning Lake Victoria. It is also home to Uganda’s international airport, which is many visitors reason for staying here, however the town is worth visiting in it’s own right!
Gorilla African Guesthouse is a 10 minute drive from Entebbe International Airport. The guesthouse can arrange both pick-up and drop-off service to the airport which is always a reassuring service when arriving in a new country. The guesthouse is located on a rural street, filled with friendly locals and smiling children. The local minibus service or Matatu as they are known, is 2 minutes walk from the guesthouse and can take you into the nearby town, Entebbe town centre or even to Kampala, the capital city which is one hour away.
The small town of Kitooro has plenty of supermarkets, restaurants and bars and a Barclays bank which makes it a closer alternative to Entebbe for all the small necessities. Entebbe is slightly larger with a shopping mall, botanic garden and Wildlife Centre.

There are various room types to choose from at Gorilla African Guesthouse, with something to suit everyone! There are dormitory beds, twin rooms, double rooms, triple rooms and even two family rooms. The standard rooms are simple yet comfortable, with hot water shower, a sofa and a large bed with mosquito net. The verandah just outside these rooms provides a great place to chill in the afternoon and enjoy the sunset or chat to fellow travellers. The deluxe rooms surround the stunning mango tree and courtyard at the front of the property. They are larger rooms equipped with a T.V and a pleasant sitting area making the rooms feel homely and suitable for a short or long stay. |

All rooms include complimentary breakfast, which is served up in the restaurant. The onsite restaurant has a good menu of local meals such as stews, grilled meats and fried fish and the bar is well stocked with a selection of cold beers and soft drinks. In the near future, the brand new two storey restaurant and bar area will open where visitors will be able to chill out on the top level with fantastic views of Lake Victoria, all from the comfort of the beautiful guesthouse grounds! The property is filled with charming sitting areas to relax and read a book or enjoy a cold beer. From the bar and restaurant area, to the cool shade of the beautiful big mango tree, Gorilla African Guesthouse is surrounded by immaculately maintained gardens giving it a relaxing homey atmosphere. |
The staff at Gorilla African Guesthouse are friendly and helpful and gave us a map of the town to make exploring easy and fun by using the local transport. A laundry service is also available at a fee and the staff can also arrange private tours to various National Parks and attractions around the country.
Gorilla African Guesthouse provides great rooms at fair prices and is a perfect place to stay whether you are just passing through on your way to the airport or visiting Entebbe during your travels.
