When we arrived in Unawatuna, we almost walked straight past Bay Watch Hotel, thinking that it would be well and truly out of our budget. Thankfully, we took a chance and asked their room rates and the next thing we knew, we were settling into our beautiful big hotel room!
Bay Watch Hotel is barely a 2 minute walk to the sweeping beach of Unawatuna where rows of umbrellas line the beach and music beats out of the beach front bars. Set back on a quaint street full of cafes, restaurants and hotels, Bay Watch Hotel is surrounded by everything you could need for your stay in this chilled little holiday town.

Bay Watch Hotel provides large, beautifully furnished rooms that come with either air-conditioning or fan. The large, comfortable beds are covered by a huge box mosquito net. The modern ensuite bathrooms have hot and cold showers with excellent water pressure and as strange as it might sound, the bath towels were the biggest and softest we’ve used throughout our travels! That’s a win in my books!
Rooms come in either double or triple occupancy depending on your requirement. Open balconies surround all rooms while the higher floors have glimpses of the ocean, perfect for watching the sunset. The in-house restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner for reasonable prices in one of two bright, open-air dining areas. Guests can also book rooms as "bed & breakfast" or "full-board" with all meals included upon prior request. |

There is a laundry and cooking class directly across the road and plenty of tour agencies and tuk tuk drivers nearby for any day trips or activities you are interested in. The bus stop to Galle in an easy 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The UNESCO World Heritage Listed Galle Fort is a 10 minute bus or tuk tuk ride from Unawatuna, where you can wander the beautiful wide streets and admire the stunning white-washed Dutch architecture. Galle Fort is a great place to visit for a day and has plenty of attractions such as museums, art galleries, gem shops and markets.
