CHE LAGARTO HOSTEL AREQUIPA
The Che Legarto hostel chain currently has some of the best hostel accommodation, in more countries than any other chain in South America. Their renowned hostels can be found in Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile and Peru. Being a large chain, Che Legarto has the luxury of offering deals such as discounts for advance bookings and online price matching.
We stayed at Che Legarto in Arequipa for three nights and could not have been happier with our decision. The hostel is located in the Historic City Centre, within walking distance to markets, museums and the two major plazas in town.

Upon arrival at the hostel we were greeted by the friendly English speaking staff who showed us a variety of rooms to choose from. We chose a private room with shared bathroom, however the bathrooms are directly outside the room so it’s a win-win situation!
The room itself was modern, comfortable and clean with plenty of room for luggage including some hanging space. The hostel is in a beautiful big colonial style building complete with a bar, kitchen, public computers, free WIFI, complimentary breakfast and 24 hour reception and security. |

One of our major reasons for visiting Arequipa was to do an overnight trek into the nearby Colca Canyon. The staff at Che Legarto were happy to store our luggage during our two day trek and upon our return, welcomed us to use the facilities such as shower, free WIFI and kitchen while we waited for our overnight bus to our next destination.
While some Che Legarto locations have a reputation for wild parties, we found this one to be relatively quiet during our stay, however we still met some great people and on our last night there was even a live band in the bar area.
After this experience our only regret was not being able to try out any of the other Che Legarto hostels!
