Jalan Alor in Bukit Bintang is one of the most energetic, aromatic and delicious streets in Kuala Lumpur! By night the street is packed with tables and chairs and the smoke from barbeques fills the street. A variety of cuisines from Malay to Vietnamese to Thai can all be found here and the food is absolutely incredible!
Being mad food lovers, we couldn’t have been happier to discover that Alor Bunker Home is located 2 minutes walk from Jalan Alor! Besides the food, Bukit Bintang is an excellent area to base yourself during a visit to Kuala Lumpur. It’s easy walking distance to a variety of huge shopping malls and has a monorail station so that getting around to other parts of this city is cheap and easy. The Petronas Twin Towers, KLCC, Chinatown and KL Tower are all in the surrounding areas and easily accessible on foot or by public transport. The location of Alor Bunker Home could not be any better!

Alor Bunker Home is a unique little place that has been open for around one year. The hostel is down a small alley behind Jalan Alor and the whole hostel is built to look like a bunker! The polished concrete floors and walls, exposed air vents and cute lanterns hanging in the hallways make the hostel a fascinating place to stay. The motto at Alor Bunker Home is “your resting hub” and they are spot on! The hostel has everything you could possibly want from a place to rest your head between busy days shopping and eating your way around KL. The twelve rooms can cater for up to 46 guests at a time and are all air-conditioned and fitted out with comfortable beds, clean linen and towels. Each dorm bed comes with it’s own locker, power point and reading light and the Wi-Fi works well throughout the hostel. |

For those after a bit more privacy, there is also a double room and one single however with only four to eight beds in each dorm, they’re fairly private already! The small kitchen offers a simple breakfast every morning with tea and coffee available all day. The water cooler, microwave and fridge make it easy for those travellers who like to self-cater and there are multiple little places to chill out and watch some TV or read a book in a quiet corner. The shared bathrooms continue the bunker theme with exposed brick walls, polished concrete showers and rustic taps poking out of the walls! The showers are fantastic with awesome rain-shower heads, good water pressure and hot water. |
Alor Bunker Home is a new, clean, quiet hostel in an excellent location. The front door to the hostel and all rooms are secure with electronic keycards needed to unlock the doors. If James Bond ever wanted to stay at a hostel, he’d definitely choose this one!
